Ark Blacklands beating national average with most improved SATs results in Hastings
Friday 11 December 2015
We're very proud to announce that new Government figures show we have the most improved SATs results in Hastings and St Leonards – as well as some of the best overall.
The number of pupils at Ark Blacklands Primary Academy achieving at least a level 4 in reading, writing and maths went from 69% in 2014 to 84% this summer – a huge fifteen percentage points and over seven times the national improvement rate.
Considered a “good pass”, Level 4 is the government benchmark that students at the end of primary school should reach in reading, writing and mathematics. Our SATs results now put the school above the national average of just 80%.
We also had some of Hastings and St Leonards’ best results for pupils getting a level 4B or above, with 78% of pupils achieving the standard.
We also saw a significant number of pupils achieving the very highest results in their SATs, with 27% of pupils achieving level 5 in reading, writing and maths – compared to an average of 24% across East Sussex.
Principal Lorraine Clarke said: “Today’s figures are a real testament to the dedication of all of our pupils, staff, and parents over the past year.
“This summer, Ark Blacklands’ Year 6 pupils achieved results far above the national and local averages and we’re looking forward to building upon our success next year.”
