At Blacklands, PE forms an important part of the curriculum and incorporates areas such as ball skills, gymnastics, dance, invasion games (football, basketball, netball, handball), striking and fielding games (rounders, cricket), net-and-ball sports (tennis), swimming, athletics and fitness training. Through these varied sports, children develop their core skills of agility, co-ordination, balance, fitness and teamwork. Competition and individual performance also form part of our commitment to high expectations. We strive to provide a learning experience that will enable all students to achieve beyond their potential and ultimately develop a lifelong passion for sporting participation and physical wellbeing.

To enliven our PE / Sports offer, we are investing in exciting new ways to encourage physical fitness.

Scoot Fit

Thanks to the ESCC Health Improvement Grant 2018, we are excited to be making Scooting a part of our PE curriculum.

Trampolining

With funding from the HOA, we have invested in a Trampoline for after school clubs initially, but hopefully also for PE in the future.

Improved Playground Markings / Activities

In a bid to encourage play and physical fitness at break and lunchtimes, we have had our playgrounds resurfaced and new markings painted for children to use.

FAB supported us by paying for traverse walls in both LKS2 & UKS2 playgrounds - great for building upper body strength.

Thanks to the  ESCC Health Improvement Grant 2017, we installed an outdoor gym for use at breaktimes and during PE lessons.

Outdoor Education

Inter School & County Sporting Events

We couldn’t be more proud of our amazing athletes today! Great teamwork, supporting each other and giving 100% in every event! Out of the 10 finalist schools Ark Blacklands came an AMAZING 2nd place!

These children from Key Stage 2 went to William Parker to take part in district cross country races. They all ran incredibly well with 5 children making it through to the county race!

We are so proud one of our year 4 pupils who has won 1st place in a local schools gymnastics competition! Well done!
